Restoring our 1906 home in Inglewood CA on a budget

Etsy Find: 1920s Light Fixture

After searching for a long time for a fixture for the  main bathroom, which originally had this gigantic, overpowering, anachronistic chandelier….

I stumbled upon this Etsy findIMG_20140427_083613_962

I snagged it for $70 plus shipping (total $94.75). I’d messaged the seller to see if the fixture still worked, but she wasn’t sure. It looked as if it could easily be re-wired, though, so I took the gamble. Luckily, it works perfectly and is a beautiful addition to the home. The square shades with their line divisions echo the windows in the rest of the house, and of course the brass brings in the rest of the bathroom fixtures (hopefully soon ALL of the bathroom fixtures as I keep searching for them). A  little cleaning off, and it’s perfect!

What happened to the chandelier, you ask? It’s currently in the basement in a collection of lighting fixtures we may wire up for fun sometime. Or I may sell it.
